Berean Baptist Church began its first service on the campus of Ambassador Baptist College in Shelby, North Carolina on June 6, 1993 with three families in attendance. Tri-City Baptist Church of Forest City, North Carolina under the pastorate of Frank Camp helped to establish Berean Baptist Church as a church planting ministry. The ministry was established as an Independent, Fundamental, Baptist church reaching and meeting the needs within the Black Communities of North Carolina. Berean Baptist Church centers its ministry on the Word of God with a strong emphasis on discipleship and church planting.

Berean Baptist Church met at Ambassador Baptist College through October 1994. Berean Baptist Church family felt that it was very important to establish this ministry within the community apart from the college. Therefore, we were able to locate a 1500 square foot building to lease on Elizabeth Avenue. After some renovations to this building, Berean Baptist Church occupied this facility from October 1994 to October 1995. By this time, our ministry had an average attendance of 15-20 people.

In October 1995, Berean Baptist Church had the opportunity to move into its present location on 201 Ridgewood Street, Shelby, North Carolina. Grace Baptist Church of Shelby had outgrown its facility and had moved into another location. Dr. Quorollo, the pastor of Grace Baptist Church, approached us about a lease with an option to buy.

After considering this option, Berean Baptist Church moved into its present location. This property has four buildings on 5 acres of land. The facility is conducive to growth and future expansion of our ministry.

The ministry of Berean Baptist Church has grown from its inception on June 6, 1993. The attendance has grown from 6 in the beginning of the ministry to an average of 60-70 people. To date, we have a current membership of 40.
